It is basically the law to protect against defects in the car of the consumer and also gives them the right to demand for replacement or refund. In fact a lemon here refers to the vehicle that has defects, diminishing its value, impairing its use as well as causing problems in safety. The right of the consumers to rely on the dependability and safety of the vehicle that they have purchased is recognized by the lemon law. A car may be considered as a lemon if it has been repaired several times for the same defect within the warranty period stated in the lemon law and still it does not work properly. However you should go to an authorized dealer to have the repairs fixed.

If it is written in the warranty materials or user’s manual the consumers should also ask for refunds and also must report the case to the manufacturer in writing. However when you file your complaint you must remember to keep all documentations involving repairs in case f they are required. The consumers can also choose a refund instead of a replacement according to the right under the Lemon Laws. Apart from these the refund for the expenses that you have incurred for repair will also have to be made by the dealer.

The different states have different provisions in case of lemon law. A warranty period of 12 to 24 months is also provided by some states. One can also avail the services of a lawyer in case if the manufacturer refuses to buy back your ‘lemon car’.

A car lemon law is meant to make your life better and that it works to serve justice. This law is enjoyed in almost all the states and they might differ but the fundamentals are more or less the same. Close attention should be paid since you do not know what a lemon is and also because you might have one. Even after the warranty has not expired a lemon is a new or leased vehicle that proves defective. After buying a new car, you expect it to serve you in the best way possible but when it does not work properly during the first week of use, it discourages you.

So at that point of time you will seek some help from your local repair shop and hope that it was just a minor hiccup. But when it will be required for you to take it back to the shop several times it is quite obvious that you would wonder you can fight for your right. And this is where the car lemon law comes in and if you do not have details of the law in your state then the best option to search for the information would be the usage of internet.

The lemon manufacturers are willing to overcome the problem but are usually reluctant to cooperate. So you would get the problem solved if they comply to give a refund or replacement. Until this law serves you justice, you can always appeal at each stage. However you should report the problem that you have come across in your car within the warranty period. The laws are being updated in many states and if it is required you have the power and the voice to request a review of your system and this will definitely be for the betterment of the entire society.
